What a ride it's been for the development of AI and vibecoding.
Here and there we hear how companies are integrating AI in their workflows, procedures and policies. Some companies are still cautious but some practically force their staff to use AI everywhere.
We also hear about layoffs in the tech industry related to AI... or kinda related.
And yeah... We've recently heard news about AI models escaping test environments and bypassing guardrails... attacking exrernal system. Scary, eh?
Definitely, AI is one of the hottest topics in 2026.
As a software developer, I have mixed feelings about it.
On one hand we have unbelievably powerful tool that speeds up learning, development, analysis.
On the other hand... programmers lose their "muscle memory". Vibecoding allows to produce code at an incredible speed. PR after PR. Also reviewed by AI and... PR comments addressed by AI.
However, technically behind each commit there is a developer... in most cases... still. But can we really say that that developer truly created that code? Will he or she recognize this code in a few months? And if something happens later, will that developer be accountable? Open question.
The other day I heard an alarming point - a platform has been developed at a lightning speed using AI but... the developers don't really know the code they produced (on paper). Speed and understanding aren't the same thing.
There is a good chance that very soon we will hear more about security breaches here and there caused by too much trust for AI, overlooked security and performance issues, AI hallucinations. Leaked data, unstable platforms, issues with performance. Code nobody really understands anymore.
Fun times we live in.
